Die vorliegende Ausgabe beschäftigt sich mit Photographie im Orient im 19. Jahrhundert und spannt einen Bogen von der Türkei über den Iran bis nach Indien.
Wie in jeder Ausgabe wird ein Sammlung vorgestellt (hier die Alkazi Collection) und darüberhinaus werden methodologische Fragen im Kontext historischer Fotografie behandelt (siehe den Beitrag von Herta Wolf).
Die folgende Ausgabe wird dann demselben Thema im 20. Jahrhundert gewidmet sein.
